Scouts that are working on one of the Fishing Merit Badges, need to contact the counselor and get a blue card signed, prior to leaving on the trip.

 

Troop 58 will be departing Friday for a weekend of camping & fishing,  up Hwy 395 to the town of Big Pine.

Please have your scout arrive on time and has eaten dinner.  We will be camping at Baker Creek Campground just north of Big Pine. Scouts will need to bring their own fishing gear,   Anyone over the age of 16 will need a fishing license. Scouts should also bring cool weather gear, sack lunch for Saturday, and water to drink.   Saturday breakfast,  dinner, and Sunday breakfast are included in the cost and will be group meals. The troop will be stopping on the way home for lunch on Sunday, please provide your scout with lunch money for the return trip. If your scout is going for the Fishing Merit Badge please have them contact the merit badge counselor prior to this trip. Uniform is Class A coming & going. Class B on Saturday. Cost is $30.00 per person. Again this includes Saturday breakfast & dinner, Sunday breakfast, and gas. Saturday lunch is on your own with a sack lunch. Sunday lunch will be on the road $ is needed.

NOVEMBER 14-16, 2014

Saddleback Butte State Park

$10.00 per person does not include food.

Food: Friday Night’s dinner & Saturday’s lunch not included.

(Saturday’s breakfast and dinner will incur a separate charge).

Scouts will have an opportunity to be in a Boy Scout patrol and experience a working Boy Scout troop.   Patrols will work together to build large water balloon launching catapults.  The idea is to see which patrol can launch balloons the farthest.  Catapults are assembled using Boy Scout knots, lashings and wooden salves—all important scouting skills.

In the afternoon, Patrols will work on the Cooking Merit Badge by preparing their own dinner. Saturday evening (weather permitting) we will honor flags by retiring them respectfully in a Flag Retirement Ceremony (scouts need to be in Class A).

Webelos will be given the opportunity to earn the Outdoorsman Badge required for Arrow of Light.  Check with a den leader to get it signed off, and make sure everything is done correctly.

*Webelos will need proper leadership; this is not a drop-off.  Please bring tents, sleeping bags and all items needed for a camping weekend. Dressing in layers, works best!  Plenty of water is a must!

Backpacking Trip Sept. 2014

Troop #58 will be training to Angeles Nation Forest, and hiking into Little Jimmy Campground located near Wrightwood.  The hike is about 2 miles one way. Tents, water filters and stoves will be provided by the troop.

This is a great opportunity for Scouts to work in their Camping and Cooking Merit Badge.

Here is the permission slip, it needs to be turned in by September 15, 2014 Backpacking Sept. 2014

The cost is $10.00 plus the cost of food.

Black Arrow 2014

Hello Troop!
Enclosed is the Permission Slip for April’s Camp out Black Arrow.  April 11-13
Cost $10.00 per Scout or Adult.

Please Note:  There are two fees for this event.  
Fees:
1)  The $10.00 covers the campsite & gas.   Due with the signed permission slip on April 7.
2)  This next fee will be due to the Patrol Leader, and this is for the Food.  Patrols will be meal planning,  shopping & cooking for themselves.   Patrols are responsible to cook Saturday Breakfast, Saturday Lunch,  Saturday Dinner and Sunday Breakfast.  This money for food is due prior to departure of this trip, Scouts can give directly to the patrol leaders, not the leaders.  Check with Patrol Leaders to find out how much the food will be (it is not to exceed $10).
** We will need drivers to transport all these scouts to the location.   If you are interested in driving, please fill out the drivers’ portion of the permission slip.  Remember, to drive you must be registered in the troop.  BSA Policy requires us to have adults registered with the Youth Protection up to date.   Please contact our Membership chairperson to start the process (please don’t wait until the last moment to do this, it takes time to process!)  wendy@conte.net  or 297-8040

Fishing Trip, Owen Valley March 2014

Hello Troop!
Enclosed is the Permission Slip for the Upcoming Fishing Trip to Owen Valley on March 21-23, 2014. 
Permission Slip and Money is due by the March 17 meeting.

‘The troop will be departing for a weekend of camping & fishing in the Owens Valley. We will be camping just north of Bishop near the Pleasant Valley Reservoir & trout fishing in the nearby area. Scouts need to bring cool weather gear and their own fishing gear. Anyone over the age of 16 will need a fishing license. If you are going for the Fishing Merit Badge, please contact the merit badge counselor prior. Uniform is Class A coming & going. Class B on Saturday. Fishing Trip Owen Valley March 2014

Naval Base 2014

We will be doing a our annual Naval Base Trip and Tour with an early start on
Saturday, followed by a tour on a ship of our Navy’s choice, meals in the
Galley with our service men, and of course Bowling Saturday night returning
Sunday after breakfast.  This is a CLASS A EVENT, the only time we are not in Class A is in the barracks.  That means to and from San Diego, on the base at all times, when we eat and yes when we bowl.

Mountain Bike Trip December 2013

Hi Great Troop 58 Scouts and Parents!!

Attached please find the permission slip for Mountain Bike trip for December 07, 2013.  We will be camping at Castaic and riding in Tapia canyon.

We will leave Saturday Morning and spend Saturday night.  We have a special surprise for Saturday night, it’s going to be fun.  Please have the Scouts fed

by the time we meet at Walmart Saturday and be packed with a sack lunch for the ride, we will provide dinner and Sunday morning breakfast.  We have all

levels going so please let your scouts know that we will have all levels riding and will accommodate all.   This will also be a working campout for those who

need the bike ride along with mapping a course.  Let’s go out and get some fresh air and have a great Troop 58 campout!!

P.S. For those coming, please bring your bikes to Monday, December 2nd meeting, we will be going over our bikes and making sure they are ready for the ride.

Pioneering & Cooking Competition Campout November 2013

We will departing on Friday to Castaic Lake Campgrounds, for a weekend of camping and Patrol competitions.  Patrols will be competing by building & assign together structures.  In the evening, patrols will be competing in a cooking competition.  Both events will be judged for awards.  The Troop will also be inviting several Webelos Patrols to join us at this campout to observe the troop in action.  Patrol food is extra from campout costs.  Lunch on Saturday is on your own.  Please eat dinner prior to departing on Friday.  Bring warm gear for the evening. 

Parents: Please note that Castaic Lake will be locking the gate for entry at 6:45 on Friday and even earlier on Saturday afternoon if you are attending
